It’s official, Ricky Gervais has secured funding for a film version of The Office in which he’ll once again take on the iconic role of David Brent.
The mockumentary film, entitled ‘Life On The Road’, will follow Brent’s life after Wernham Hogg and his ongoing struggle to hit the big time with his band – and secure a UK tour.
If you’re a fan of Gervais, then you’ll know that this film has been in the works since last summer, but now that the comedy legend has secured funding from BBC Films and Entertainment One (a Canadian film company), we can really start to get excited about the project.
The film will delve into David Brent’s private life, taking it even further than the TV show did, with Gervais himself saying: “We really get to peel back the layers of this extraordinary, ordinary man.”
And if that isn’t juicy enough for you, the word is that he has written a load of new tracks for it, which again, if you’re a fan of Brent, is extremely good news.
If he can come with anything as legendary as ‘Free Love Freeway’, which is regularly played in the UNILAD office, then we are going to be in for a treat!
