Robert De Niro has officially been named the greatest actor of all time, according to new analysis.
The American movie star beat out the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Clint Eastwood and Leonardo DiCaprio to top the new poll.
The new analysis is based on the number of key roles each actor has played, rather than industry awards or popularity.
The survey looked at the top 200 films in terms of overall rankings. Any sequels were excluded so each movie franchise only counted once towards an actor’s total.
Also, an actor had to have a leading role in the movie, which was judged by whether their name was one of the first five listed in the credits.
With films like ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Goodfellas’, ‘Raging Bull’, ‘Once Upon A Time In America’, ‘Heat’, ‘Casino’ and ‘Deer Hunter’ under his belt, De Niro had a clear advantage over this three closest rivals.
De Niro scored a total of seven for his roles in those films, with Chaplin, Eastwood and DiCaprio tied in second place on five movies each.
