Rolf Harris reportedly wants to pay off the women who have accused him of sexually assaulting them.
More alleged victims of Harris’ crimes are still coming forward, and the 85-year-old disgraced entertainer could face a series of civil compensation claims and even a second trial.
He is now thought to be asking his lawyers to offer women thousands of pounds – in one case up to £10,000 – to stop fresh allegations coming to court, and to protect his £15 million fortune.
One alleged victim, who claims she was attacked by Harris in the 1970s, told the Sunday People she was disgusted to hear of his attempted pay-offs.
The 85-year-old woman said:
How he thinks he can give you money to shut up and go away is sick. Harris was always so arrogant and thought he could get away with anything. He just can’t accept he was caught.
Harris is currently in prison in Stafford after he was found guilty of 12 sex attacks on young girls, including his daughter’s best friend who he targeted from the age of 13.
If new cases were to come to court and Harris was found guilty, a judge could demand he pay his victims much more than an out-of-court settlement.
