We all take the odd selfie. Some opportunities are too good to pass. But, just be careful.
18 year old Romanian beauty Anna Ursu was with her friend when she decided to take a selfie… On top of a train.
The train wasn’t moving at the time, it was stopped at a station at the time, so Anna and her friend decided to try to take a ‘special selfie’ from on top of the carriage.
She was lying on top of the train, when she put her leg in he air for the snap, but came into contact with an overhead cable, sending 27,000 volts through her body, causing a huge fireball.
Her mate didn’t touch the electrical field, but was still sent flying from the roof.
A passer-by was was out for a walk when he saw the girls playing about, and unfortunately saw the incident. He risked his own life by climbing up to help her, covering Anna’s burning clothes and calling the emergency services.
The two girls were taken to hospital in a helicopter, but unfortunately Anna later died.
A hospital spokesperson said that Anna had not directly touched the wire, but had touched the electrical field, which is just as dangerous.
One of Anna’s regular selfies.
The surviving friend said that they wanted to get the ‘ultimate selfie’, and hadn’t considered the danger that they were putting themselves in.
