One dog from Colorado has become only the second dog ever to get FOUR prosthetic limbs, allowing him to walk again after a nasty case of frostbite.

After getting frostbite on all four of his paws, the dog, named Brutus, saw his owner at the time try to fix the damage himself and amputate the frostbitten areas, leading to vetinary professionals having to amputate all four of Brutus’ feet.

In order to allow him to walk again, Brutus was fitted with the prosthetics and given to a special foster parent as he began the task of mastering his new legs.

Brutus has had the prosthetics since September 2014 and is making great progress, and with Laura Aquilina training him, we think he will be chasing those cats again in no time!

His foster mother Laura spoke to Fox 31 Denver and claimed:

You can’t explain to an animal why you are putting these contraptions on their feet,

You can’t explain it to them, that it’s to help them.

Brutus will hopefully learn not only to walk, but to run and hike again, allowing him to have a quality of life that may have seemed unthinkable following his amputations.

Brutus isn’t the first dog to get the prosthetics – in fact, here is Derby making a pretty good attempt at learning to walk again with them.
