A counsellor at a prestigious US prep school has been accused of trying to get a student to sleep with her, by promising him she would get him into Harvard.
Emily Feeney, a 40-year-old admissions counsellor at the all boys Malvern Preparatory School in Pennsylvania, is alleged to have also sent the 16-year-old boy topless pictures in an attempt to seduce him.
Feeney sent him a string of suggestive messages, that Philadelphia Magazine published, reading:
Do I get a hug when I see you… How far can I push that?
I’d send you the sunburn photo I posted to Instagram but that might not be a great move for my career.
Obviously this is very emotional for me and I feel raw.
I miss you! I don’t want it to be this way forever.
You are gorgeous and this is killing me.
If you don’t respond to me in another week, I will pull you aside.
If you’d… Just stop fighting and let it happen, you’d be a lot less uptight and much happier.
The boy didn’t reciprocate her feelings though, and refused to have sex with her. He responded: “I’m not interested in you, end of story. I’m 16. I’m not into you.” She allegedly continued pursuing a relationship with him for a following year.
Police said Feeney sent the boy hundreds of emails from her Malvern Prep email. He said her advances were unwelcome, but he played along because she said she’d get him into Harvard, and he didn’t want to hurt his chances.
She’s now been fired and faces charges of institutional sexual assault and corruption of a minor.
