Nine schoolchildren were rushed to hospital after teachers at Forge Valley Community School in Malin Bridge thought they had taken Class A drug, Ecstasy.

Police and paramedics were called to the school and advised that the kids be rushed to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, only for the medical professionals to find out that the kids had actually been snacking on mints.

The school’s head teacher, Dean Barrowclough, moved to reassure everyone that they had just taken every available precaution after one child fell ill and rumours of drug taking spread, and was praised by parents at the school for ‘keeping them updated’ and handling the situation well.
