This Swedish social experiment puts random members of the public right in the middle of domestic abuse. You can’t be more on top of someone than in a lift, and it makes for some eye opening reactions. Or should we say, non-reactions?
Because of the 53 people who shared a lift with these videomakers, only one of them spoke out during the domestic abuse. Domestic abuse that involved the man pushing, shoving and slapping the women woman several times and even threatening to ‘kill her’.
One man even unbelievably ran out of the lift as soon as the commotion started. And one woman stood completely lifeless even when a loud slap could be heard.
Thankfully, a little bit of faith is restored when a woman in a blue coat threatens the man with the police. But is 1 person out of 53 good enough? Surely not.
The creators plan on doing another version of the video with the shoe on the other foot and the man being abused. Domestic abuse is rife is Sweden at the moment with a whopping 81 per cent of women admitting to being harassed at some point after the age of 15 in the country, compared to the EU average of 55.
What would you do in this situation? Get involved? Or just ignore it?
