Sony Pictures are f*cking geniuses. The Interview, which is probably now one of the most controversial movies of all time, WILL open in cinemas. And on Christmas day of all days.
Statements have been released by Sony themselves and Seth Rogen, who fills one of the two lead protagonist roles.
Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton said in a statement:
We have never given up on releasing ‘The Interview,’ and we’re excited our movie will be in a number of theaters on Christmas Day.
He also added that Sony are continuing to secure more platforms and theaters so that the movie reaches the largest possible audience.
Yeah, I bet you are big man. After all, this definitely now looks like one of the most insanely executed marketing schemes of all time. It’s on EVERYONE’S lips, it already has a 9+ score on IMDB and it’s now probably going to have record weekend box office figures.
All that, and you managed to piss off a dictator in the process? Michael Lynton, you are winning, sir.
Merry f*cking Christmas.
