Dominique Harrison-Bentzen is going to sleep rough for 24 hours to raise money for a homeless man named Robbie because he wanted to give her £3 to get a taxi home when she was stranded in Preston town centre.
Harrison-Bentzen was stuck in the centre of Preston, Lancashire, late at night after realising that she had lost her bank card and had no money to get a taxi.
Apparently it was at this point that Robbie approached her and insisted she take £3 from him in order to get home safely. Harrison-Bentzen posted a Facebook status about what happened and it turned out that this wasn’t the first act of kindness from Robbie as more stories emerged of his good nature.
Although the 22-year-old student didn’t accept the money she still wants to repay him for his generosity. The money raised will go to renting a flat for Robbie and according to Facebook she has already raised £20,000.
Harrison-Bentzen said: “He has been homeless for seven months through no fault of his own and he can’t get work due to having no address.
“And I simply can’t just give him the money, I have to go through the right channels. So I will be spending 24 hours through the day and night as a homeless person to understand the difficulties they face each day.”
Her campaign has received a lot of significant attention, including that of Ian Brown from The Stone Roses who retweeted her.

Needless to say that the publicity has helped the campaign greatly and she has managed to far exceed her goal of raising enough to afford a flat deposit for Robbie.
