The art teacher who quit her job from one of Britain’s leading independent schools in London is now making a comeback – as a boxer.
Yep, Joanne Salley will enter the squared circle in what will be the only female fixture at this month’s Boodles Boxing Ball at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
The 37-year-old former educator and trained ballet dancer will take on Danielle ‘the Grim’ Raper on Saturday and it’s all to raise money for children with cancer – more specifically, neuroblastoma.
The former Miss Northern Ireland winner left her job at the prestigious Middlesex school following the 2011 shitstorm that saw photos of her go viral online.
The shoot had been undertaken by the school’s head of photography, Fiona Corthine, in what was a classy shoot – however, when she accidentally left the USB stick in a classroom, a pupil found it and spread the photos like wildfire.
One pupil at the school, who was a sixth former at the time, was quoted as saying: “She was topless. Everyone already thought Miss Salley was a babe anyway so naturally the photo went round the school like wildfire.”
A few years on, Joanne is taking part in charity boxing matches at black tie dinner parties for Harrow and Eton alumni, and is actively supported by her former school.
We wish her the best of luck for Saturday!
