A terminally ill lad asked for post from strangers for his birthday and was slightly overwhelmed when he received 100,000 cards and presents yesterday.
Danny Nickerson, six, was feeling lonely after he had to leave his kindergarten because of an inoperable tumour, so Carley, his mum, wrote a letter to their local paper with the request two weeks ago.
Carley said: “We are shocked and speechless. This is unbelievable. We’re going to be opening these for a long time.”
Danny, who lives near Boston, Massachusetts, was diagnosed last October and was given only 18 months to live.
The cards and gifts came flooding by the truckload to his post office, some from as far away as Japan.
