Let’s be honest, it’s pretty grim in winter. The days are grey and overcast, the rain is sideways, the wind is blowing shite all over the place and it gets dark early. So it would be pretty awesome to have a skylight that just shone sunlight and blue skies through it all year round.
Well that dream has now become a reality. Kind of.
The CoeLux fake skylight is incredible. It beams sunshine into your room, regardless of the weather outside, because it is essentially just a light. A very clever light.
It mimics real sunlight, using a clever and very scientifically confusing method called Rayleigh scattering.
Essentially, it causes light particles to scatter. It makes our sky blue, because it scatters sunlight everywhere and blue light is the most efficient. Apparently.
The skylight mimics depth, somehow, and makes it appear as though the sun is far away. Sorry, getting through that was a struggle. Just check this thing out.
Expensive though, too. It costs a WHOPPING £40k, with an additional £5k fitting fee, so if you do fancy getting one make sure you’re not planning on moving house any time soon.
