A personal trainer is putting us all to shame by continuing to exercise and lift weights while she’s pregnant with twins.
Sophie Guidolin is 26 weeks pregnant with twin girls but that hasn’t stopped her from hitting the gym three times a week.
Even though she’s been cleared by her doctor to continue her exercise regime, some people have criticised the fitness star on social media because of a photo she posted online that shows her lifting a 65lbs (30kg) weight.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said:
I had a man comment on my Facebook page saying that what I was lifting was considerably heavy – but considerably heavy to who? Him? My son is 29 kilos – if he falls asleep somewhere, I have to carry him. To me, that’s not a heavy weight. It all comes down to what’s heavy for the individual and what they could lift prior to pregnancy.

There are so many myths and so much fear behind working out while pregnant. I get it, I’ve had a miscarriage before and it’s horrible, I wouldn’t wish it upon anybody. There were people saying I’m going to have a prolapse but its no different to if I bent down to pick up a pencil, or the groceries.
Miscarriage can be caused by so many things, but people associate it with exercise. The pros of exercising during pregnancy definitely outweigh the cons. I really hope that pregnant women understand the benefits of exercising and a healthy lifestyle while pregnant.
Woah… My weight training photo yesterday sparked some debate! 😧 I was not expecting that, however if that photo is what it takes to get people talking about exercise during pregnancy and the benefits then I am happy to spark up the topic. There are so many myths & old wives tales when it comes to pregnancy- from early pregnancy until your baby becomes a toddler! Guidolin takes extra precaution by exercising under the supervision of her husband and has tweaked her usual routine, only lifting 50 percent of her usual capabilities and taking longer rest breaks.
Contrary to the belief of some, exercising while pregnant actually has major health benefits. Guidolin says she was really unhealthy during previous pregnancies with her two sons which made the births “horrendous” and she hopes more pregnant women embrace a healthy lifestyle as they’ll see a big difference.
After seeing this, we kind of feel like we don’t have an excuse not to renew our gym membership…

Alot of people express concern over women exercising in pregnancy and I 110% understand why. There are so many myths, old wives tales & opinions out there it is hard to understand what is the truth and what is made up. In my opinion, listen to noone except your qualified & trusted medical staff. This week is my 26Th week of pregnancy with twins. Each pregnancy is different & exercises that I or anyone else may be doing may not be safe for your body to perform. I have studied my pre/post natal certificate for fitness and still believe it comes down to each individuals fitness, pregnancy and circumstances.
