A topless street performer has been criticised for bringing her two-year-old daughter to work in the same outfit.
Maria Diaz is one of the painted ladies that have become commonplace in New York City over the summer. Also known as desnudas, Spanish for naked lady, they pose for pictures in exchange for tips.
Diaz was seen wearing a frilly black skirt with a drawing of a black heart over her breasts. Her daughter was also wearing the same outfit, and the pair had cut outs of the letters ‘N’ and ‘Y’, The Mirror reports.
The police weren’t very impressed, and one officer ordered her to dress her daughter and told her to move on, which she did.
Seems to be a bit of an overreaction, topless two-year-olds are a common sight at most beaches and swimming pools over summer, and are generally not considered to be exposing themselves.
It’s not as though she was overly sexualising her daughter, she had black paint on her chest.
And if they were worried she might be corrupted by her mother’s nakedness, well I’m sure she’s seen it all before.
