Great news for motorists and naughty parkers everywhere, as now traffic wardens have to wait until ten minutes after your ticket expires before they can book you. Great stuff!
We all know that traffic wardens are massively unpopular. Probably because they all seem to be total jobsworths that give you a ticket while you’re running up the road, just seconds after your ticket is up.
But a new law comes in to place next month, which will now give you ten minutes grace from when your ticket or time expires. Wardens will have to hold back with their ticket, and finally, you may get the last laugh.
The changes also mean that residents can demand a review of parking in their from local councils. They can query yellow lines and parking fines.
The law is aimed to bring councils into account, and ‘bring back common sense’, which is very much welcomed.
Local Government and Communities Secretary Eric Pickles, said:
We are ending the war on drivers who simply want to go about their daily business. For too long parking rules have made law-abiding motorists feel like criminals, and caused enormous damage to shops and businesses.
