Uber drivers in America have been told that they are no longer allowed to carry guns according to the taxi firm’s website.
Now before we even go into the fact that they’ve previously been able to carry guns and it’s been absolutely fine as long as they held a permit for said gun, it’s also worth noting that passengers are not allowed to carry weapons either. Because you’ve got to even things out and all that.
This was a statement the taxi firm placed on their website that was shared by company rep Matt McKenna:
We have adopted a no-firearms policy to ensure that both riders and drivers feel safe and comfortable on the platform. We made this policy change after assessing existing policies and carefully reviewing recent feedback from both riders and driver-partners.
This comes after an Uber driver in Chicago shot no less than six times at a man who was pointing a gun at a group of people – and it came only minutes after
dropping some passengers off.
Now, before the taxi firm can get a reputation as moonlight vigilantes, the company have banned guns altogether.
