One of the best and most prestigious Universities in the world, Cambridge Uni, are about to hire a professor of Lego. Seriously.
The Lego foundation are set to hand the University two grants to allow them to fund this, with the Lego professorship being open to all “those whose work falls within the general field of the title of the office”, and the focus will be studying the role of play in children’s development.
The grants will amount to £4 million and the whole idea is to “build a future where learning through play empowers children to become creative, engaged, life-long learners”, which is actually far more valid that it might originally seem when talking about a Professor of Lego.
It will start in October 2015, with the Lego foundation claiming they are there “to make children’s lives better – and communities stronger – by making sure the fundamental value of play is understood, embraced and acted upon”.
