On Thursday, it was announced that Harry Shearer had departed ‘The Simpsons’ after over 25 years on the show.
Given that Shearer voiced classic characters like Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner, Otto and Mr. Burns, many fans are concerned about what will happen to all the natives of Springfield he had a hand in.
Well, fear no more Simpsons fans because Waylon Smithers and Rainier Wolfcastle will live on!
When asked whether Shearer characters would continue without him, showrunner Al Jean said:
Yes, Burns and Flanders will not die. They are great characters and will continue.
There’s no word yet on who will voice all the characters Shearer has left behind now he’s returned to his home planet.
But at least this means viewers won’t have to worry about seeing Itchy without Scratchy.
