Last week, 60-year-old father of 5, Frank Henderson was diagnosed with cancer after having stomach pains. It came as a complete shock to everyone, after only going into hospital with minimal symptoms.
Upon discovering the tragic news, Frank wasted no time in creating a bucketlist. And on that list was to see Christmas early after being told he may not live till December.
And in amazing act of kindness, his whole neighbourhood selflessly came to his aid, without even telling him. His daughter, Thea said that string after string of lights started appearing outside his house in Shoreline, WA.
“It’s really more about the Christmas lights, because my dad’s kind of a nut-job when it comes to that. Loves them to pieces. It’s insane. There was a string of lights, and then, the next day, neighbors just kept putting them up.”
Thea says that while the family are grieving, they are currently making sure they treasure every moment they have left with Frank. Which is why they also set up a make believe wedding, so him and Thea could have a ‘first dance’ that sadly may not happen when the big day finally happen.
In preparation for his death, Henderson created a special video tape for each of his children. He also put together a list of home improvement tasks to tackle before he becomes too weak.
God bless. What a sad, but awesome story.
