One woman has claimed that she is too fat for prison after hitting 30 stone.
Linda Ann Jenns, 49, begged a judge to spare her from prison after causing death by dangerous driving and being convicted of the offence at Canterbury Crown Court.
She knocked Paul Stinton, 45, over while out in her car after failing to stop at a red light in Kent.
Her barrister, Mr Bridge, claimed:
As it is she is grossly overweight, morbidly obese and since the incident has put on even more weight.
She is a person for whom a prison sentence would be extraordinarily difficult and I don’t think I exaggerate when I say she might not get through it.
Judge Heather Norton has postponed the sentencing for two weeks to receive further reports but claimed that she would face an almost certain jail term and that she would also be slapped with a driving ban, but Jenns is out on bail in the meantime as she tried to compile medical reports to convince the judge to spare her jail.
