Margaret Loughrey from Strabane in Northern Ireland won a Euromillions jackpot of £27m last year and decided to give £26m away.

The truly selfless act has helped fund charities and develop Loughrey’s home town into a tourist hotspot.

Loughrey also had plans to buy Strabane’s vacant 22 acre business park and install a craft village, creating 80 jobs in the process but was stopped by Invest NI because her plans didn’t meet the criteria of what they wanted.

However Loughrey did manage to buy an old mill just outside Strabane for around £1 million and planned to transform the 62-acre complex near the River Mourne into a destination designed for leisure and to attract tourists.

She also intends to build a museum highlighting the north west’s industrial heritage as well as football pitches and a bowling alley.

Despite Invest NI turning down her plans for the business park, she said: “I don’t really need Invest NI, I can buy somewhere else – but I wanted to give them a boost.”
