Dr John Hagee, the founder and senior pastor of the Cornerstone Church, has hit the headlines this week, and not because of his amazing preaching.
Oh, no. The guy has hit the headlines for claiming that women who shout out God’s name when they’re having sex should go to jail. Yeah, you read that right. Go to jail.
Now I really hope your response to this is ‘what the f*ck, the guy is a lunatic’, because for my money, if your partner can get you to the level where you actually want to cry out God’s name during sex, then they’re doing a pretty good job and the pair of you should probably carry right on and do it even more.
In this world of crimes and deaths that surround us, a simple blasphemy does not get much attention when it should.
In fact, one of the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament states: ‘You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain’ (Exodus 20:7). The word vain means for “no reason” or ‘useless”.
Oh, and to cry it out during sex is apparently ‘one of the filthiest, most derogatory and sinful uses of the Lord’s name I can think of.’
So there you have it. Someone REALLY needs to sort out their priorities in life, and it’s not the women shouting out God’s name when they have sex.
