Making a password with Emoji could soon be a thing, with British firm Intelligent Environments unveiling their ’emoji security technology’ – and as you might expect, the idea has gone down a storm.
It is thought to be easier than using a numeric password, with a third of the 1,300 people who were asked in the poll claiming they had forgotten their PIN on at least one occasion.
When you add that to the fact that 64% of people regularly communicate using Emoji icons only, it’s actually quite surprising that the idea hasn’t been put forward or acted upon before.
Memory expert Tony Buzan claimed:
Forgetting passwords is because the brain doesn’t work digitally or verbally. It works imagistically. Images are the prime way of remembering anything you want to remember.
Because of the sheer number of Emoji icons available, the passwords would also be 480 times more secure than normal numbers, apparently, although you can imagine that the 1234 combination will just be replaced with four smiley faces…
