If you just cock your head to the right slightly, an otherwise inconspicuous residential street enjoys a whole new look on Google Maps.
Who knows whether council bureaucrats were hard-up for names for the street, but yes, they did eventually settle on the ‘Bellenden Gardens’.
‘I live just around the corner from Bellenden and we have always had a laugh at the name, but now the shape of the street has just added to the fun,’ Robert Duncan, 58, told the Edinburgh Evening News.
It gets slightly better too – the cul-de-sac is located in an area of Edinburgh called Inch.
Mr Duncan’s comments come days after a property website found that embarrassing street names could reduce a house price by as much as £84,000 compared to homes on different streets nearby.
NeedaProperty.com also released the top 15 rude street names – including Minge Lane and The Knob – all of which were in England.
Mary Cunningham, 61, who lives in Walter Scott Avenue, near to Bellenden Gardens, said: ‘I see there is a Bell End named in the English list, but ours is much funnier because the street is also shaped like a giant willy.
‘I’ll be looking for our Bellenden to be included next year, although, to be honest, I don’t think it affects the house prices around here.’
