Many of us have pet peeves, certain things that we simply cannot stand or put up with any form.
For some people it might be loud-chewing, or slow walkers, or maybe the thought of someone cracking their joints sends shivers down your spine.
But for Lord of the Rings star Cate Blanchett, it's a particular kind of garden tool which gets her hackles up.

The actor has been on record many times waxing lyrical about her pathological loathing of the tool.
This is, of course, the leaf blower.
The implement can make it easier for someone to gather up large amounts of leaves, but the actor is simply not having it as a useful tool.

Leaf blowers might move leaves around easily, but they're very loud and make an annoying droning noise. It's perhaps not surprising given that they're effectively a reverse hoover.
Blanchett has repeatedly spoken about how much she can't stand the devices.
Whether it's on the red carpet, in interviews, or on the Hot Ones podcast while braving the gauntlet of hot wings.
But why exactly does Cate Blanchett have such a burning hatred of leaf blowers?
The Benjamin Button actor explained that it's the combination of the noise, and the fact that they don't even work very well.

That's because as soon as you blow leaves on one side, the wind comes along and just blows them back where they came from.
You then end up in a never-ending cycle of blowing leaves back forth, with a single leaf-blower battling against mother nature herself.
In her appearance on First We Feast's Hot Ones, she said: "You blow them from one side of the pavement to the other, only for them to be blown back again."
But that's not it, as Blanchett took things even further in a separate interview.
Speaking the menace of a gardening device, she said: "It is all that is wrong with the human race. They drive me nuts."

People took to the comments to share their views, with one writing: "Not enough people are talking about this," while another said: "Yeah, she's kinda right, I hate them on a weekend morning."
A third also agreed, writing: "Every word she said is true. Team Cate all the way."
It seems that she's not alone in her dislike of leaf blowers either.
The state of California is set to pass law meaning that as of July 1 2024 selling gas-powered leaf blowers and weed whackers will be banned.
