Six women and five men have been jailed and sentenced to 300 lashes after they had a wild, drunken beach party in Saudi Arabia.
The group – which includes six Saudi nationals – were charged with ‘obscenity’ after police found alcohol and explicit pictures during a raid of a villa in the city of Jedda.
Some of the party-goers were drunk and tried to resist arrest from officers, after being called to the property following complaints from angry neighbours.
Breitbart reported that the group were initially given jail sentences varying from eight days to a year and 150 lashes, but their prison terms and amount of lashes were increased after a failed appeal.
Saudi Arabia has some of the strictest Islamic laws in the world. Women are not allowed to not mix with the opposite sex unless they are related, drinking is banned and women must cover themselves in public.
This seems to be another story where Saudi Arabia are seriously violating their citizens’ human rights.
