With a load of national news channels making an absolute killing in recent weeks, because of all the political debates and primaries happening across the U.S, the local news circuit, meanwhile, isn’t faring anywhere near as well. It’s probably no wonder with people like this.
How you could not feel uncomfortable watching this following segment simply beyond me. As soon as Madison-based chief meteorologist Charlie Shortino started talking he was bumbling through his words like a guy who had never graced any television screen before and you just know it’s going to end badly.
He manages to turn a cute dog story into some freaky bestiality thing in one foul swoop. Out of nowhere he stutters ‘get a room’ to the host and then takes his comment to a whole new level of weird, by insinuating there’s ‘a lotta action’ happening between his co-worker and the dog.
The most effective mood killer imaginable. It’s easy to explain how his actions manage to peak at a solid cringe factor of about 1,000,000. It’s not even the reaction, it’s the sheer silence afterwards as his joke fails miserably.
He just keeps trying to mock anchor Christine Bellport, suggesting that her time with the dog was the most action she got in a while, in months, even. Mate just stop while you’re ahead, this isn’t going to get any better, I promise you.
How he manages to power through it and just laugh it off despite the sheer discomfort around the room is commendable, but it was all just so avoidable.
I’d just stick to doing the weather in the future.
