Unlike most major criminals, notorious drug lord El Chapo, AKA Joaquin Guzman, is supposedly begging to be extradited to the U.S.
Apparently, the man who has twice escaped his Mexican prison, can no longer take the treatment he is being subjected to.
He is reported by Radio Formula to have told his attorney: “Try to obtain my extradition as fast as possible; try to see how we can talk to the American government”.
Refugio Rodriguez delivered the statement from his client and claimed Guzman is being prevented from sleeping, and is watched even when using the toilet.
The request flies somewhat in the face of this recent Fox News report…
The report from Guzman’s attorney would echo similar comments from his wife, Emma Coronel, who told Telemundo how her husband is constantly watched by guards.
They are there all day, doing cell checks each hour. They don’t let him sleep, he doesn’t even have privacy to go to the bathroom.
Rodriguez reportedly added that, should his client be granted extradition to the U.S, he could plead guilty in exchange for a lesser sentence.
The U.S. Department of Justice declined to comment on the situation, but it’s hard to imagine they’d be devastated with tagging in to imprison one of the most influential drug lords in the world.
