Most couples row over the bed covers – but would you ever beat your partner up because of it?
Richard Heath, from Macclesfield, did. He dragged his girlfriend out of bed before attacking her over who had the most cover, Daily Mail reports.
A court heard how he grabbed her by her hair before shaking her and kicking her in the stomach. And Macclesfield Express said the 35-year-old originally denied the charge, but changed his plea to guilty on the day of the trial.
Prosecuting, Kate Marchuk, said:
The couple retired to bed and had a dispute over him having all of the bed clothes. She pulled the covers off and he pulled them back.
Then he pinned her down and bruised her upper arms.
He grabbed her by her hair and dragged her out of bed.
He was shaking her and kicking her in the stomach.
She phoned her brother and police were called.
The couple, who have been together for a year and a half, have a young child together. And apparently, the relationship has never been violent.
Heath has been given a 12 month community order with 60 hours unpaid work, £200 court costs and a £60 victim surcharge. He’s also been given a restraining order (rightly so) and is banned from entering the property.
This isn’t the first case of an extreme reaction to hogging the bed covers, though.
In May last year, Daily Mail reported that Derek Miller, 76, stabbed his 57-year-old wife in the back with a 10inch blade after blaming her when he woke up with no covers on his feet.
Definitely not your average reaction…
