Apparently Shana and one of the pupils, who she slept with numerous times over a course of five months, first had sex at his home when he was 16-years-old after smoking weed together before repeating the act in her home, her car, and in a nearby hotel.

After agreeing to get rid of her teaching license, the court ruled that Shana wont even have to register as a sex offender.

As a direct result of pleading guilty, the Marion County prosecutor’s office agreed to dismiss numerous other charges such as nine felony counts of child seduction and one misdemeanour count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Indiana State Senator, Jim Merritt, added:

In recent years, there have been far too many cases against school employees regarding misconduct with our children.

We had legislation last session, and we will have legislation this session to help ensure our kids are safe in school.

This verdict flies in the face of these efforts to keep predators out of our schools and sends a terrible message that you can harm our kids and avoid prison time.

As you can probably imagine – this case has sparked a lot of controversy leading many to question the necessary punishments for child abuse.
