What would you do if you were between the ages of six and 12, out on an Easter egg hunt, and two suspected burglars pass you running from a police helicopter overhead?
I wish I could say I’d do what these ingenious kids did last week in the village of Capel, Surrey when they formed a human arrow on the floor to direct the police chopper to the runaways.
The video above shows how the helicopter pilot zooms in to see which way the arrow is pointing before searching in the given direction, reports the Daily Mail.
He switches to infra-red and clocks the burglars before saying:
We’ve got visual. Second male is in custody. Good work.
Apparently, the National Police Air Service (NPAS) had been searching for two men, who had recently burgled a building near the village of Capel before fleeing.
Two men, aged 28 and 27, were later arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Sergeant Paul Sochon of the NPAS later said:
I’m sure the last thing the group of daring Capel residents expected when they set out on Friday afternoon was to abandon their Easter egg hunt to assist us in a police search. But the initiative they demonstrated proved to be invaluable.
The alleged burglars are now currently on bail.
Good work all round.
