Twitter is facing a gargantuan shitstorm head on after numerous child porn rings were uncovered hosting and sharing thousands of illegal and sickening images on the site.

A social media user known as Molly was the first to uncover the alleged mass circulation of child porn on the site in an incident which is now being referred to as #twittergate, reports the Daily Star.

Molly found thousands of disturbing images and videos of young boys and girls on the dark underbelly of the site as well as countless Twitter users who were fooling pre-teens and young teens into sending them nudes.

Many of the images on the site were reportedly accompanied by the caption ‘legalise 14’ – a clear reference to the belief that government should change the law on sexual consent from 16 years of age to 14.

At one point Molly even claims to have discovered the approximate location ‘of a woman repeatedly sexually abusing and selling her child in India’.

The uncovering of this mass scandal was made just yesterday when Molly ran a computer program designed to identify any accounts sharing graphic images while also linking them together with other accounts.

In just minutes Molly was able to find thousands of disgusting accounts, all connected, all sharing sickening images.

Harrowingly, shortly after the uncovering of the images Twitter quickly deleted Molly’s account which promptly kick-started a successful campaign to get her back online.

Twitter is yet to make an official comment on the matter.
