Two police officers have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a six-year-old boy.

Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Derrick Stafford, 32, have both been arrested by Louisiana state police.

Jeremy Mardis was killed by the duo, after being hit with five bullets to the head and chest, with his father Chris Few also injured in the shooting.

The father and son were in a car that four city marshals were pursuing in Marksville Tuesday night. Details over why the car was being pursued by police have not yet emerged.

Greenhouse and Stafford have been booked on charges of second degree murder and attempted second degree murder.

Col. Mike Edmonson of the Louisiana police force claimed now was the time for the community to come together and grieve for the young boy.

He added:

Justice has been done tonight, but the investigation is far from over.

Let’s make tonight about Jeremy Mardis.

That little boy was buckled in the front seat of that vehicle, and that is how he died.
