A woman who falsely claimed she had been abducted and raped by four men sent a disturbing image of her bound and gagged to her boyfriend.
25-year-old Leiha Artman said she was in her driveway when the men approached to ask for directions, reports The Mirror.
Artman said she was then forced into the boot of a car, blindfolded, tied up and driven to an unknown location where she was beaten and sexually abused.
Her boyfriend reported to investigating Michigan State Police troopers that he had received text messages demanding money for Artman’s release.
According to court documents the messages also included photos of Artman gagged and bleeding from her head.
Artman reported she was able to call her boyfriend and he picked her up at a location near her home where her abductors dropped her off – although it is not clear whether any money was paid.
According to Mlive, after further investigations, police discovered the allegations to be completely false and Artman pleaded guilty to a felony of ‘false report’.
She was sentenced to 12 months in prison, however an explanation as to why she made up the story has still not been confirmed.
Her partner told the Daily Mail the story was only partly made up, and that Artman had been abducted.
All I know is that I woke up to some very, very brutal pictures.
She did make up a story saying it was four black men but, at the end of the day, she did get really, really hurt by someone.Advertisement
The whole thing sounds very suspicious…
