Batman’s arch nemesis The Joker’s been brought to the big screen a few times now, but Jared Leto seems to be going a bit method in his approach to playing ‘The Harelquin of Hate’.

We’ve already heard reports that the Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner acted a bit strange on set, sending his co-stars a dead pig, courtesy of a nameless henchmen who reportedly dropped it off on set, and giving Margot Robbie a live black rat, which she ended up keeping.

Meanwhile Will Smith has claimed that he never felt like he met Jared Leto during the film’s shoot, saying that the 30 Seconds To Mars front man was constantly in character.

Now in an interview with E!, Leto’s admitted to sending not just a dead pig but also some used condoms, anal beads and even sticky Playboy mags to the rest of the Squad.

He explained:

I did a lot of things to create a dynamic to create an element of surprise, a spontaneity and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there… The Joker is somebody who doesn’t really respect things like personal space or boundaries.

The film’s other stars also spoke about Leto’s dedication to bringing the clown prince of crime to life.

Will Smith said:

He went full Joker… He really set the tone. He wasn’t playing with it. He was dead serious as an actor. He was going in and he was 100 percent going into this character.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, the actor playing Killer Croc, went on to reveal the effect the infamous dead pig had on the explaining it was a good gift because it brought the group together because, ‘it became us against him’.

Leto’s Joker and the rest of the Squad will be smashing into theatres on August 5 and we can’t wait to see how Leto’s efforts look on the big screen!
