The first trailer for Beauty and the Beast has been released, and despite the film being nearly a year away from release, there’s already a huge buzz surrounding it.
The film stars Harry Potter actress Emma Watson as Belle, with Dan Stevens (of Downton Abbey fame in case you didn’t know) taking on the role of the Beast.
It was undoubtedly a big risk to remake an iconic Disney classic as a live-action version, but from the little we can decipher from the first trailer, it seems to have stayed fairly close to what we know about the classic, with the rose playing a prominent part in the cllip, and the Beast’s castle exactly how it was depicted in the original film.
You can also hear Lumiere and Cogsworth talking about Belle, and speculating ‘she might be the one’ to end the curse cast upon them and the Beast.
We get a fleeting glance of Watson as Belle, who certainly looks the part.
It’s the first trailer that’s been released for the film, and is understandably short, merely hinting at what’s to come, but from the minute or so we’ve been treated to, it seems that the full film – out on 17th March 2017 – will be a modern twist on a tale as old as time.
