According to new rankings, the sentence ‘Katie Hopkins is a motherfucking cuntish wanker’ (just a random example) is very strong and should not be used on TV until way past the 9pm watershed.
Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator, interviewed more than 200 British people on how offensive they found a long list of 150 rude words and insults.
These included general swear words linked to race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, body parts and health conditions, religious insults and sexual references, as well as certain hand gestures, the Independent reports.
Words were ranked as mild, medium, strong, or strongest.
For general swear words, the following were ranked as mild:
- Jesus Christ
…Ah minger, a vintage classic.
- Pissed/pissed off
- Son of a bitch
As if feck was even in there…
- Beef curtains
The words minge, clunge and gash make me feel nauseous…
And here are the strongest ones…
If we now take it south, the only sexual words that were rated mild or medium were bonk, shag, slapper and tart.
