Infinity Ward held a big live stream for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare last night, and it wasn’t long before they moved on to what we all really care about – the Modern Warfare remaster.

Of course, as soon as a remaster is announced, it’s never long before fans decide to put together a comparison video to see just how shiny the new version is when held up against its original counterpart, but Infinity Ward have saved us the trouble by doing it themselves. Cheers.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was released way back in 2007 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, so you’d expect there to be some pretty noticeable improvements, nearly 10 years on. I’m very happy to report that there are.

I mean, Modern Warfare was never an ugly game by any stretch. In 2007 it was pretty much a thing of beauty, and it hasn’t exactly aged badly – but the footage of the remastered version really puts it in the shade. It really looks like the team have gone all out on this one.

The Modern Warfare remaster is actually being developed by Activision subsidiary Raven Software, not original studio Infinity Ward. Obviously, they’re kind of busy working on Infinite Warfare.

According to a press release, Modern Warfare Remastered will feature:

Vibrant current-generation visuals, with fully improved texture resolution and detail, high-dynamic range lighting, lit and shadowing VFX particles, revamped animation and audio, stunning sound, and much more.

The game won’t be sold as a standalone release. You’ll have to buy Infinite Warfare to get a download, which comes with the original (and awesome) campaign, as well as 10 multiplayer maps. At the moment only three maps have been confirmed; Crash, Backlot, and Crossfire.

Check out the comparison vid below.

Oh, and those precious stats you built up in the original Modern Warfare won’t carry over into the remaster, so you’ll have to work your way from the bottom all over again.
