Pokemon GO has taken the world by storm, with fans across the globe enamoured with the idea that they can finally go out into the real world and catch ’em all.
Unfortunately, some fans clearly don’t think the game is immersive enough yet – that’s why they’re building the Trainer Ball, a functional Pokeball peripheral for the Augmented Reality hit.
Tired of gently swiping your finger across the screen to catch Pokemon? With the Trainer Ball, you can physically throw a Pokeball at your desired target.
Of course, constantly throwing a ball and then having to walk and pick it up again would get old after the first five or six times, so you’ll also be able to simply make a throwing motion with the ball to achieve the same effect.
Then again, you could just swipe your finger gently across the screen. The Trainer Ball is a ridiculous idea, but I love that there are people out there actually trying to make it.
You’ll notice in the video below that there’s no mention of Pokemon, and they don’t even refer to Pokemon GO by name – they have to be careful in terms of branding of course, which is why they’ve called it the Trainer Ball.
GamerReality need to raise $25,000 to bring the Trainer Ball to the world. I will say that while I think it’s an utterly stupid idea for the most part, there is a portable phone charger hiding in the ball, which is actually pretty cool.
I can’t imagine the motion control aspect alone will help to sell the Trainer Ball – but then again, selfie sticks are a thing these days, so what the hell do I know?
