Bethesda have finally announced when Fallout 4 mods are coming to consoles. Xbox One gets ’em in May, while they arrive a month later for PlayStation 4, in June.

Obviously PC gamers have been modding like maniacs since the game launched back in October. The official Creation Kit, which aims to make the art of mods more accessible to puny mortals like me, is currently in beta on PC before it gets rolled out to consoles.

Bethesda’s entirely new system lets you upload your mods to Bethesda.net, which can then be browsed, downloaded and installed from within the game. It all looks pretty easy to use, really.

You can watch Bethesda’s official announcement below. They show off a few mods in action, and demonstrate how the system works. There’s even a wonderfully self deprecating nod to Oblivion’s much maligned Horse Armour DLC, if you fancy some pointless add-ons for your Power Armour.

There have been some pretty great mods for Fallout 4 so far. Highlights include an amazing photorealistic graphic mod, one that lets you play through the game as Dogmeat, and a mod that adds none other than Biggie Smalls to the Commonwealth (a personal favourite).

Now, if someone could just make a mod that completely removes Preston Garvey from the game, we’ll be all set.
