– 500ml Dr Pepper
– 250g beef mince
– 1 tsp smoked paprika
– 1 tsp English mustard
– Salt & pepper
– 3 tbsp BBQ sauce
– 2 rashers bacon
– 100g mature cheddar
– Brioche bun
– 1 beef tomato – thinly sliced
– 1 baby gem lettuce
– 2 pickled gherkins – thinly sliced
First, empty the Dr Pepper into a pan and reduce on a high heat until thick and syrupy – about 20 minutes.
Next, add the mustard, salt & pepper, smoked paprika and 1 tsp of the BBQ sauce to the mince.
Mix well and form into two burgers.
Cook the bacon and the burgers for three minutes in a very hot griddle pan – then flip and repeat.
Top the burgers with the bacon, then the cheese and cook under a grill until the cheese is bubbling.
In the meantime lightly toast the two halves of the brioche bun in the griddle pan and add the Dr Pepper syrup to the rest of the BBQ sauce.
Slice the tomato and gherkin, choose a few lettuce leaves, spread Dr Pepper sauce onto both buns and build!
