Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh has become embroiled in a sex tape scandal, after an explicit video said to be of her was touted for £30,000.
The Sun reports that they were offered film of her performing a sex act on a man – believed to be her partner at the time – and very NSFW pictures of her in revealing poses earlier this month, an offer they declined.
The 57-second video is believed to feature one of Kym’s former partners, but the identity of the man could not be verified.
A source told the newspaper:
Kym had absolutely no idea any sex tape existed, let alone that it was in the hands of a person vile enough to attempt to cash in on it. This news has left her reeling. She is stunned that someone is willing to betray her. She feels furious, humiliated, and very vulnerable.
Kym – who plays landlady Michelle McDonald on Corrie – is said to be terrified about the thought of these images being made public.
The source continued:
Kym has done nothing wrong. She will do anything she can to stop these images being made public.
Kym found fame in 2000 when she won TV reality show Popstars with the band Hear’Say. After leaving the group in 2002, she became an actress and took up the role in the ITV soap in 2006.
A spokesman for Kym said:
Kym is understandably horrified at the claims made in today’s newspaper. The matter has now been handed to the police who have launched an investigation. We trust that the Sun newspaper will co-operate fully in identifying the individual behind this plot so that they can be held to account.
We hope they find the culprit sooner rather than later.
