Taylor Swift's ex Joe Alwyn forced to turn off Instagram comments amid the release of 'brutal' new album

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn broke up in early 2023 after six years together

The release of Taylor Swift’s new double album has already spawned copious amounts of analysis and speculation regarding the subject matter and who each song may be referring to.

As is typically the case with Swift, it seems a fair share of the music on The Tortured Poets Department pertains to the 34-year-old superstar’s personal life.

Many believe that a few of the the 31-songs on the new album relate to her ex Matty Healy.

While others are convinced 'thanK you aIMee' is a diss towards Kim Kardashian, who feuded with Swift alongside her ex-husband Kanye West for several years.

Its worth noting that this speculation has not been confirmed to be true and UNILAD reached out to representatives for Swift, Healy and Kardashian for comment.

However, the name that fans have speculated the majority of the album is about is none other than Joe Alwyn. The couple dated for six years before breaking up in early 2023.

Many seem to think the song titled 'So Long, London' details their split.

The lyrics read: "I left all I knew / You left me at the house by the Heath / I stopped CPR, after all it's no use / The spirit was gone, we would never come to."

This has caused fans to rush to social media to bombard the British actor with brutal comments about their relationship.

The 33-year-old has reportedly turned off comments on his Instagram.

However, this hasn't stop Swifties from taking to X to share their thoughts.

One wrote: "Oh… so long, london…joe alwyn, welcome to your tape."

Another added: "You want me to let Joe Alwyn breathe freely after So Long London?"

It appears Alwyn hasn't been active on the platform since he liked a tweet back in 2022.

The Tortured Poets Department marks the 11th studio album for Swift, who has become one of the most successful musicians in history.

After repeatedly breaking records with re-releases of her older music on Spotify, the singer's latest album could very well become her most successful to date, given her continuous increase in popularity.

Plus, despite the alleged shots at various targets on the album, Swift seems to be in quite good spirits in recent months.

Her relationship with Travis Kelce, the tight end of the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs, continues to be a topic of discussion even deep into the off-season.

UNILAD has contacted representatives for Joe Alwyn for comment.
