A 20-year-old woman left disfigured by her ex-boyfriend has gone on to win a beauty pageant and a modelling contract.

Chanttelle Ward was 18-years-old when her ex-boyfriend, Rhys Culley, bit her lip so hard it left Chanttelle permanently scarred.

Following the attack Chanttelle started entering beauty pageants to help restore her confidence, and show she was not going to live as a victim.

Victory at the Top Model of England contest saw Chanttelle scoop a £1000 cash prize, plus a modelling contract.

Culley was sentenced to eight years in jail following the attack, which erupted at the end of a night out when Chanttelle refused to kiss him after an argument.

Allegedly Culley left Chanttelle covered in scratches and bruises, and having nearly taken her lip off forced his tongue into her mouth whilst smearing her blood onto his face.

She may well say ‘hope’ but the fact of the matter is her example does show sufferers of abuse that they should not live in any kind of shame. Good on you Chanttelle.
