After the absolute chaos caused by a sustained cyber attack on TalkTalk last week, a suspected hacker has been arrested in Northern Ireland.
And it turns out this could all be the work of a teenage boy, rather than the Russian Jihadi who actually claimed responsibility for the attack.
Metropolitan Police confirmed they have arrested a 15-year-old boy in County Antrim on Monday afternoon in connection with the hacking attack.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of Computer Misuse Act offences and has been taken into custody for questioning.
The youngster’s house is now being searched and investigations are ongoing.
Last week’s “significant and sustained cyber-attack” on TalkTalk reportedly resulted in potentially millions of customers’ banking details and personal information being stolen, although the boradband provider’s chief executive has since said the attack was smaller than first thought.
Even so, the thought that the company might have been brought to a standstill by a teenage boy in his bedroom is a bit of a concern!
