A school in Crane, Texas, that teaches no sexual health education has unsurprisingly been hit by a rampant STI outbreak.
The school in question has had 20 pupils test positive for chlamydia in May of this year, and while that may not sound like a lot, it is in fact six percent of the 300 strong student body.
Currently the school district has an ‘abstinence curriculum’, whereby they pass the buck to parents, who are likely untrained in education, to teach their kids about the birds, the bees, and the nasty infections that like to follow them from flower to flower.
The school was forced to send a letter home to parents explaining what precisely chlamydia is.
Jim Rummage, Crane Independent Schools Superintendent, was reported as saying:
We do have an abstinence curriculum, and that evidently ain’t working,”Advertisement
You don’t say Jim? Who would have thought that horny teenagers, ignorant to the risks of sex would just have at it and learn the hard way?
