It looks like Azealia Banks may have finally turned a corner after calling out her own behaviour in an apologetic Facebook post.
As everyone must have heard, the controversial musician has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons recently after referring to Zayn Malik as a ‘curry-scented bitch’.
After drowning in an overwhelming tidal wave of social media backlash she eventually posted an apology to her Instagram account.
And it seems she may have genuinely turned over a new leaf – she has now issued an apparently heartfelt – and definitely lengthy – apology on Facebook for her repeated use of the word ‘faggot’.
Here’s the full post:
Ok, i’m never saying the word F****T ever again. The amount of people that get hurt when i use the word vs. the amount…
According to Mic, Banks, who identifies as bisexual, was first criticised for using the word back in 2013 when she called blogger Perez Hilton a ‘messy faggot’.
Then last year TMZ published a video from a Delta Airlines passenger who captured Banks referring to a flight attendant as a ‘fucking faggot’.
Until now Banks has argued the term has been re-appropriated by the gay community and isn’t as offensive as it once was.
In a 2015 interview with Sirius XM’s Xorje Olivares Banks said:
I feel like when I use the word ‘faggot,’ it comes from, like, a feminist point of view, not a homophobic point of view.
It’s really just kinda like you feel attacked as a woman.
I’m not sure you can use the word from a ‘feminist point of view’ to be honest, but at least she seems willing to adapt and evolve her behaviour – maybe she is actually learning from her mistakes…
