If you’re planning on getting into a good university, you might want to listen up.
According to the recommendations of a government Green Paper, top unis may now be able to charge higher fees than ones that are considered to be lower down on the scale.
The academic institutions would use an Ofsted-style ranking system, with the ones at the top (predictably Oxford and Cambridge), charging more in fees than the ones at the bottom end of the scale.
This is despite the latest wave of student protests about fees, with many feeling the increasing fees charged by universities will put many people off actually furthering their education.
The latest proposals are guaranteed to create further controversy, with protests showing no signs of abating.
