This is the distressing moment that the a 72-year-old man allegedly lured a nine-year-old girl to his flat, to ‘look at his rabbits’ before he violently sexually assaulted her.
Named in Moscow as Mikhail Novikov, the pensioner is seen in the grainy CCTV hobbling back towards his flat on his walking stick, as the child follows him, The Mirror reports.
A police source told Life.ru: “The man kidnapped a girl and took her into his block not far from the playground. For about an hour he performed violent sexual acts on the girl.”
Novikik reportedly asked the girl to come and ‘look at his rabbits’, ‘watch cartoons’, before he allegedly bit, tortured and humiliated the girl, the police added.
The child somehow managed to escape when the married father-of-two went to his kitchen, the authorities say, before running home to her mother and telling her everything.
Since this sickening ordeal, the young girl has been recovering in hospital.
Yulia Ivanova, spokeswoman for the Investigative Committee in Moscow, said:
He offered the girl to come with him and to watch some cartoons in his home. At home he became aggressive. The girl managed to run away when he went to the kitchen. Her mother immediately called police and the man was detained in his apartment.
The pensioner was charged under the Russian Criminal Code following the alleged attack and has been formally accused of a number of serious sexual offences.
